Missiles hit imaginary targets during Tue. drills

TEHRAN, Dec. 27 (MNA) – Domestic air defense systems ‘Mersad’ and ‘Ya Zahra-3’ put on a successful performance on Tue. by detecting and engaging with imaginary enemy planes during Army-IRGC joint drills.

During the 7th military drill held by Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base, codenamed "The Defenders of Velayat Sky-7", experts of the Armed Forces also evaluated the increase in detection range, engagement and higher precision in eliminating the targets by making systematic and electronic changes in the two missile systems.

It is a short range air defense system equipped with various Electo-optical equipment that help to system for detection and tracking of targets when battlefield is affected by heavy jamming. It is capable of detecting 30 targets and tracking 12 targets simultaneously.

The drill which was launched on Monday is to cover over an area of 496,000 square kilometers (308,000 square miles) throughout Iran’s southern, southeastern, and southwestern parts in two stages.
